“Doctor of agriculture” programme held in Mai Son

The Trade Promotion Centre for Agriculture (Agritrade) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the Son La provincial Farmers’ Union and the People’s Committee of Mai Son commune, organised the “Doctor of agriculture” programme 2025 on August 15.

The event was attended by experts and scientific researchers in the agricultural sector, leaders of the provincial Farmers’ Union, and the communal People’s Committee, and 200 delegates representing agricultural cooperatives, farmers from Mai Son, and neighbouring communes.

At the programme, delegates exchanged ideas with experts and scientists on topics related to varieties, cultivation techniques, and post-harvest technologies to improve the yield and quality of key fruit trees in the northern midland and mountainous region; cultivation and care techniques for plums, pears, and coffee; and techniques for producing oranges following hygienic and food safety standards (VietGAP).

In addition, farmers were also provided with information on post-flood environmental treatment for livestock; warnings about dangerous diseases spreading among pigs and control measures; prevention of livestock diseases during seasonal transition; and common dangerous parasitic diseases found in intensively raised poultry.

The programme served as a useful platform for farmers to learn, exchange information, support each other, and strengthen their knowledge of science and technology to serve local agricultural production.
