First Congress of provincial Sponsorship Association for 2026–2031 term takes place

The provincial Sponsorship Association held its first Congress for the 2026–2031 term on July 28. Attending the event were Tran Thi Dung, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for the Support of Persons with Disabilities; Do Hong Lam, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; and 113 delegates representing association members from across the province.

The provincial Sponsorship Association was established through the merger of the provincial Association for the Support of Persons with Disabilities and Orphans, the provincial Blind Association, and the provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. It officially began operations in March 2025.

The association currently has more than 1,000 members and is tasked with protecting the legitimate rights and interests of persons with disabilities, orphans, blind people, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, and other vulnerable groups.

Since its establishment, the association has mobilised, received, and coordinated resources worth more than 2.77 billion VND (105,183 USD).

It has worked with partners to provide assistance to 16,856 beneficiaries, with total funding exceeding 8.25 billion VND, through medical examination and treatment, livelihood support, housing assistance, scholarships, and vocational training programmes.

The association has also proposed to replace temporary and dilapidated houses for seven households and selected five individuals for the "Learning Never Ends" scholarship, contributing to improving the lives of vulnerable groups.

For the 2026–2031 term, the association will continue to renew its activities and operational methods under the motto "Solidarity - Compassion - Responsibility." It aims to strengthen the mobilisation of social resources, for at least 5 billion VND, and provide assistance to between 1,000 and 1,200 beneficiaries. The association will also intensify healthcare services, livelihood support, vocational training, and other programmes.


The congress elected the Executive Committee of the provincial Sponsorship Association for the 2026–2031 term, comprising 29 members; along with a nine-member Standing Board and a three-member Inspection Board. Luong Bun Tinh was elected Chairman of the association for the 2026–2031 term.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association for the Support of Persons with Disabilities presented a gift worth 89 million VND to the provincial Sponsorship Association, while the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin presented 50 million VND.

The gifts will support the association's efforts to provide care and assistance for persons with disabilities, orphans, AO/dioxin victims, and other vulnerable groups across the province.
