Free medical checkups and medicine provided for residents in flood-affected areas

The Son La provincial Hospital of Dermatology and Leprosy, in coordination with the Youth Union of the Department of Health, on August 8 organised a free medical outreach programme providing dermatological examinations and medication to residents in flood-affected areas of Song Ma and Chieng Khoong communes.

The programme mobilised over 20 doctors, nurses, and medical staff from the provincial Hospital of Dermatology and Leprosy and the Song Ma region Medical Centre to examine and treat approximately 400 local residents. Common skin conditions treated included fungal infections, scabies, contact dermatitis, eczema, folliculitis, and other dermatological diseases.

The total value of prescribed medications exceeded 30 million VND (1,144 USD), covering oral and topical treatments, immune support, and dermatological therapies.

The Youth Union of the Department of Health distributes free medicine to residents of Chieng Khoong commune.

This initiative aimed to support communities in preventing and controlling common post-flood skin diseases, safeguard public health, minimise complications, and prevent outbreaks. It also helped raise awareness of dermatological health and hygiene following natural disasters.
