Khang ethnic community cultural house inaugurated

The provincial Youth Union, in coordination with Chieng Lao commune, held a ceremony to inaugurate the Khang ethnic community cultural house at Pa Mong Pa Pu hamlet on December 30.

This project was launched as part of Youth Action Day to celebrate the successful 14th Congress of the provincial Youth Union for the 2025-2030 term.

Pa Mong Pa Pu hamlet currently has 106 households, all of whom are Khang ethnic people. Previously, the hamlet had a community cultural house; however, its small size did not meet the community’s needs for collective activities. Therefore, the provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Vietnam Youth Federation and sponsors to support the construction of a new cultural house for the hamlet.

Construction began in March 2025. The 145-sq.m building is designed in the traditional stilt-house architecture of the Khang people, along with auxiliary facilities. The total investment exceeded 1 billion VND (38,070 USD). This is the 14th project in a series of 16 community cultural houses formed under the programme “Footsteps for the Community,” initiated by the Vietnam Youth Federation and co-sponsored by Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) and the National Volunteer Centre.

Once completed and put into use, the cultural house will better meet the community’s needs for collective activities, create a space for collecting, researching, preserving, and promoting ethnic cultural values, and encourage local people to strengthen solidarity, strive for economic development, and stabilise their livelihoods.
