With funding from the National Target Programme on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021–2025 period, Son La province has supported over 1.4 million students with tuition exemptions, reductions, and financial aid for education.

In recent years, Muong Sai commune, Son La province, has actively encouraged residents to convert less efficient areas of corn and cassava cultivation into fruit orchards.

Ta Hoc commune in Son La province is shifting crop and livestock structures with a view to raising its average per capita income to 30 million VND (1,148 USD) per year.

Chieng Mai commune, Son La province, now has over 11,000 head of livestock and nearly 300,000 poultry of various types.
