Rice harvesting contest on terraced fields attracts crowds

As part of the second Golden Season Festival 2025, a rice harvesting contest took place on the terraced fields of Xim Vang commune.

After harvesting, teams thresh the rice to collect the grains.

The contest featured four teams, each consisting of four members (two men and two women). They competed to harvest rice within 20 minutes. With agility and strength, the young men and women skilfully used sickles to reap the rice. After harvesting, the rice was threshed to obtain grains, then winnowed to remove empty and immature ones, and impurities before being packed.

The contest area was filled with cheers and encouragement, creating a lively and energetic farming scene, promising a bountiful harvest.

This meaningful activity recreates the familiar image of harvest season while offering visitors the opportunity to experience the rice harvesting practices of the Mong ethnic people in Xim Vang.
