At the event, leaders, civil servants and staff of divisions and units under the Son La provincial Forest Protection Sub-department are introduced to remote sensing technology and its application in forest management and monitoring of forest changes.
They are also guided on installing eCognition software, importing imagery data and familiarising themselves with the interface; accessing free satellite imagery, processing boundaries and converting coordinate systems to the designated area for interpretation; practicing image interpretation and exporting results; checking and adjusting boundaries based on forest status maps.
The training equips forest rangers with the skills to proficiently use eCognition software for remote sensing image interpretation and forest change monitoring, contributing to improving forest management effectiveness across Son La province.
The Son La provincial Forest Protection Sub-department is holding a training workshop on the use of eCognition software for interpreting remote sensing imagery in forest management, protection and development from March 17-19.
