Son La city promotes legal knowledge on environmental protection

The Vietnam Lawyers Association held a conference in Son La city on June 18 to enhance legal knowledge on environmental protection.

The event brought together representatives from the provincial Party Committee’s Board for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilisation, the Vietnam Lawyers Association, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, along with 80 members of the provincial Lawyers Association.

A rapporteur from the Vietnam Lawyers Association delivers a presentation on environment and sustainable development.

Rapporteurs from the Vietnam Lawyers Association and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment touched upon on key topics, including policies and legislation on sustainable development and environmental protection; legal frameworks for the development of a circular economy; the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection; and the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 876/QD-TTg dated July 22, 2022, approving the action programme on green energy transition and carbon and methane emissions reduction in the transport sector.

Their briefings also covered the role of the Vietnam Lawyers Association in legal education and dissemination during the 2024–2030 period.

The training session aimed to enhance legal knowledge on environmental protection, raise awareness, responsibility, and coordination among agencies, organisations, and the public in enforcing environmental laws, thereby contributing to the focused, effective implementation of environmental legislation.
