The event brought together war veterans, former youth volunteers, members of the Sơn La College’s youth union, and students from Ngoc Linh Primary School.

Speakers included former youth volunteer Lo Van Thich, former chairman of the provincial Veterans’ Association, and veteran Lu Van Han, who fought in the northern border defence struggle. They shared vivid battlefield memories with participants, recalling the hardships and glory of the “fiery years.”

The event formed part of a nationwide campaign launched by the Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee to preserve and promote wartime stories under the theme “Stories from the Fiery Years.” It also served as a tribute to past generations and an opportunity for young people to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s history, fostering patriotism, pride, and a sense of responsibility in carrying forward the revolutionary tradition.

On this occasion, the provincial Youth Union’s standing committee launched a movement focusing on cultivating ethics and skills; promoting volunteerism and community service; and harnessing youth strength in digital transformation and economic development.

It underscored Son La young generation’s determination to learn, practice, and follow their predecessors in contributing to the province’s prosperity.
