Son La's communal leaders receive firefighting, rescue training

The Son La provincial Department of Public Security on July 21 held a firefighting, rescue and emergency response training course for 214 chairpersons and vice chairpersons of People's Committees of communes and wards across the provinc

At the opening of the firefighting, rescue and emergency response training course for commune and ward People's Committee leaders.

Participants received training on relevant legal regulations, fire prevention measures, firefighting tactics and techniques, rescue operations, escape and victim evacuation skills, and first aid. The course also provided a forum for participants to discuss challenges and practical issues encountered in carrying out the work in their localities.

The programme included hands-on training in the use of firefighting equipment as well as rescue and emergency response tools.

The training aims to strengthen state management of firefighting, rescue and emergency response under Vietnam's two-tier local administration model,  equip commune- and ward-level People's Committee leaders with a clear understanding of their responsibilities and authority, as well as the skills to direct responses to fires, explosions and rescue incidents at the grassroots level.

It also seeks to enhance coordination between police and local authorities in policy planning, equipment investment and promoting community participation in fire prevention and fighting./.
