Training workshop focuses on nutrition care in the first 1,000 days of life

The provincial Centre for Disease Control recently coordinated with HealthBridge oganisation to organise a training workshop on "Nutrition Care in the First 1,000 Days of Life" for health staff from regional health centres and local health stations, as well as women and youth union members from the communes of Long He, Nam Lau, Muong Khieng, Co Ma, and Phieng Cam.

During the workshop, participants were provided with knowledge about the importance of nutrition care in the first 1,000 days of life; causes and consequences of child malnutrition; nutritional care for women before and during pregnancy and for breastfeeding mothers; breastfeeding practices; regulations and policies of Vietnam on protecting and promoting breastfeeding.

Complementary feeding for infants; food hygiene in meal preparation for children; guidance on sample nutritious meal plans for young children; practical cooking sessions on porridge preparation for babies; and techniques of using communication tools were also highlighted.

The training workshop equipped health workers, local women, and youth union members with knowledge on the importance of nutritional care during the first 1,000 days of a child's life, while also providing guidance on nutrition for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and young children in the localities.phương.
