The event gathered over 100 delegates, including officials in charge of agriculture, health care, and rural development from Dien Bien, Lang Son, Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Tuyen Quang, and Son La provinces, as well as officials from 15 communes in Son La province.

The training workshop on the nutrition-sensitive food system development project.
Participants were introduced to key topics, including the National Action Programme “Zero Hunger” in connection with the transformation of Vietnam’s food systems towards transparency, accountability, and sustainability in the new context; the necessity of transforming the food system and integrating it with the National Target Programme on Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
Others included integrating nutrition into national target programmes to contribute to food system transformation; and Son La province’s experience in developing a roadmap for transforming its food system toward transparency, accountability, and sustainability by 2030.
Participants were also informed about the current state of food security, nutrition security, and household nutrition in Son La; and the project handbook for developing a nutrition-sensitive food system and future directions.

The workshop aimed to enhance general understanding of the food system and the nutrition-sensitive food system development project for officials in the northern midland and mountainous provinces in general, and Son La province in particular. It also provided guidance on the steps for project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation for relevant stakeholders.
