Voluntary blood donation a meaningful act for community

The voluntary blood donation movement, actively implemented by the Red Cross Societies at all levels in collaboration with local agencies, units, and schools, has generated strong public engagement, with an increasing number of officials, youth union members, and young people donating blood.

A large number of officials, citizens, and armed forces participate in a blood donation programme in Mai Son district.

In Song Ma district, many youth union members, officials, and armed forces are always ready to donate blood whenever needed, promptly supporting hospitals with essential blood supplies for emergency care.

Ha Van Thap, Secretary of the Song Ma district Youth Union, shared that 200 young people participated in the Blood Donation Day 2025, contributing nearly 100 units of blood.

Promoting the pioneering and volunteer spirit of youth, university students throughout the province have actively responded to the blood donation movement. Nguyen Khanh Ly, a K63 student majoring in preschool education at Tay Bac University, shared: "When I donated blood for the first time in 2024, I was a bit nervous. But knowing that my blood could help save someone’s life made me feel truly proud. I now encourage my friends to participate in blood donation drives regularly."

Since the beginning of this year, the provincial Red Cross Society has organised four outreach campaigns, attracting 1,500 participants, with 1,300 volunteers registering to donate 1,144 blood units. Hundreds of local-level activities to raise public awareness have also been held through loudspeakers, posters, and social media to help the public better understand the benefits of blood donation and encourage broader participation.

Cam Thi Chuyen, Chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross Society, stated that in celebration of World Blood Donor Day (June 14), the association has advised the provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation to organise the ‘Red Journey’ Blood Donation Day in Son La city and Thuan Chau district. The plan is to draw 1,550 participants and collect 1,300 units of blood.

The movement is spreading widely throughout the community. Voluntary blood donation not only ensures a steady blood supply for medical emergencies and treatment, but also reflects compassion and social responsibility. Every drop of donated blood carries hope and embodies the noble values of humanity - nurturing a more caring and connected society.
