The event was attended by nearly 100 participants, including officials, businesses, cooperatives, and farmers from the communes of Van Ho, To Mua, Xuan Nha, and Van Son.

Son La boasts a large-scale agricultural production sector in the northern midland and mountainous region, featuring specialised cultivation areas for fruit trees, coffee, tea, and other perennial industrial crops. In recent years, the province has promoted the application of science and technology in agricultural production. To date, nearly 4,000 hectares of cultivated land across the province have adopted water-saving irrigation systems, mainly in areas producing fruit trees, coffee, tea, and other key crops.

At the workshop, participants were introduced to solutions for monitoring and managing soil and crop health through indicators such as moisture levels, nutrient status, and growth conditions. They also shared experience in applying digital technologies, sensors, and automated irrigation control systems to optimise cultivation processes and improve the efficiency of water and fertilizer use. 

Discussions focused on the advantages and challenges in implementing water-saving irrigation systems, experience in applying science and technology and digital transformation in agricultural production, and proposals to enhance the transfer of technical advances, develop demonstration models, and support farmers and cooperatives in accessing technologies suited to local conditions.
