In 2024, under the leadership and direction of the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Public Security, and the Party Committees and authorities of both provinces, the police forces of Son La and Bokeo have strengthened cooperation in maintaining security and order. They have proactively exchanged information and collaborated to resolve issues, especially in combating crimes and drug trafficking, contributing to building and consolidating the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.

The two provinces’ police forces sign a memorandum of understanding on security and order cooperation for 2025.

At the meeting, the two provinces’ police forces agreed to regularly grasp the situation and promptly exchange information regarding the situation, schemes, and "peaceful evolution" activities by hostile forces; fight against activities exploiting religion, democracy, and human rights to sabotage the revolution; disturb security and order, and border security; and proactively ensure security and order in all situations.

They also consented to continue effectively implementing the cooperation plan on combating various types of crime, with a focus on intensifying the fight against transnational drug trafficking networks; improving the detection and capture of wanted criminals; and well managing the immigration work. They signed a memorandum of understanding on security and order cooperation for 2025.

On this occasion, the Son La Department of Public Security presented gifts worth 200 million VND (7,855 USD) to its Bokeo counterpart.
