The Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the provincial People's Committee on November 12 held a meeting of the Steering Committee for the second phase of the Gender-Responsive Equitable Agriculture and Tourism project in Son La province (GREAT 2 Son La).

A national ceremony to launch the pair of Long Sap-Pahang International Border Gates will be co-hosted by Son La province of Vietnam and Laos’ Houaphanh province on November 19.

Son La province is offering military medicine and technical training for officers and soldiers from the Military Commands of nine Lao provinces from September 23-28.

The Vietnam - Laos Friendship Military-Civilian Medical Station at the Long Sap Border Gate Border Guard Station in Moc Chau district has recently received four Lao children poisoned by wild mushrooms.

A working delegation from the Departments of Education and Sports of Houaphanh, Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, Phongsaly, Xieng Khouang, Sainyabuli, and Bokeo provinces of Laos visited and exchanged experience in training Lao students with universities and colleges in Son La province on September 13.

The Son La Music, Song and Dance Theater is a professional art unit in the province. Besides performing at local political events, it also engages in diplomatic and cultural exchanges through various programmes and events, enhancing the special and enduring friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

A delegation from the departments of education and sports of Laos’ Houaphanh, Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, Phongsaly, Xiengkhouang, and Sayaboury provinces on September 11 visited the provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minority Students and the Nguyen Trai Secondary School in Son La city.

Leaders of the People's Procuracies of Son La province and Laos’ Houaphanh province held talks in Son La city on September 11 to exchange experience and boost coordination in the fight against cross-border crimes.

The provincial Border Guard Command on August 30 held the closing ceremony of a training course on national border management and protection for officers of the Military Command of Laos’ Luang Prabang province.  

The Veterans Association of Son La province held talks and signed a cooperation agreement with its counterpart from Laos’ Xiengkhouang province on August 27 in the Vietnamese locality.

Working delegations of the Defence Ministries of Vietnam and Laos on August 12-13 inspected preparations for the second Vietnam-Laos Border Defence Friendship Exchange in Moc Chau district of Vietnam’s Son La province and Sop Bao district in Laos’s Houaphanh province.

The Veterans Association of Son La province on July 17 held talks and signed a cooperation agreement with its counterpart from Laos’ Phongsaly province.

In 2013, Son La province’s Muong La district set up a twinning relationship with Muong La district, Laos’ Oudomxay province. After more than 10 years of cooperation, the two districts have sent many working delegations to each other, held talks, exchanged experience, signed working minutes, and helped each other in socio-economic development.

Implementing policies of the Party and the State, Son La province’s Party Organisation and authorities have been proactive and flexible in foreign affairs, and achieved significant results, contributing to materialising the nation’s foreign policies and guidelines, and boosting socio-economic development.

A delegation of the People’s Councils of the Lao provinces of Bokeo, Phongsaly and Oudomxay on May 16 visited some outstanding agriculture models in Son La province.

The provincial Youth Union on April 15 organised cultural and sports exchange activities on the occasion of Laos’ traditional Bunpimay Festival 2024 for Lao students who are studying and researching at colleges and universities in the province.
