Veterans of Son La, Laos’ Luang Namtha and Bokeo provinces hold talks

The Veterans Association of Son La province held talks and signed cooperation agreements with its counterparts from Laos’ Luang Namtha and Bokeo provinces on October 30.

Attending the meeting were representatives from the provincial Party Committee’s Board for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, and the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

During the talks, the Veterans Associations of the three provinces exchanged information on their recent activities, shared experience in implementing their missions and organising emulation movements, and discussed measures to improve the quality of association work suitable to each province’s conditions and characteristics.

The parties discussed and agreed on key areas of cooperation to be included in the upcoming memorandum of understanding. These include continuing to jointly promote education among officers and members about the special traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries’ Parties, States, people, and Veterans Associations; promoting adherence to the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Border Regulations; participating in activities to maintain security and order; preventing and combating crime, social evils, illegal migration, and cross-border disease transmission.

The parties also agreed to exchange information, documents, memorabilia, and the remains of Vietnamese soldiers, civilian workers, and experts who sacrificed their lives in Luang Namtha, Bokeo, and other areas of Laos.

They shared experience in supporting veterans in economic development, establishing funds to assist members in difficult circumstances, and creating favourable conditions for veteran-owned enterprises of both countries to explore markets and invest in business cooperation.

The associations will continue to exchange organisational methods and operational experience, and facilitate mutual visits, study tours, and experience-sharing activities in the coming time.
