The market brought together 13 teams for a culinary competition and featured booths showcasing local agricultural products, regional specialties and traditional dishes. Elaborately decorated stalls reflected the distinctive culture of the highlands, helping promote local products as well as the cultural life and traditions of local ethnic communities.
A range of sporting events and folk games also added to the festive atmosphere. Five teams competed in the traditional banh day pounding contest, skillfully working through each stage to make soft, fragrant glutinous rice cakes and highlight the region’s traditional culinary heritage.
In the tu lu (spinning tops) competition, seven teams went head-to-head in events requiring dexterity, concentration and skills. Meanwhile, six teams competed in tug-of-war, delivering intense and spirited matches that showcased teamwork, solidarity and collective strength.
Visitors to the market also had the opportunity to explore the scenic Muong Lum Lake, experience the cultural space of the Thai ethnic group at the historical site of the place where Yen Chau’s first Party cell was established, and take in the picturesque rice fields and highland landscapes of Chieng Hac.
The market provided an opportunity for the locality to promote its distinctive products, cultural heritage, natural landscapes and tourism potential. It also served as a platform connecting culture, commerce and community-based tourism, helping bring the image of Chieng Hac closer to visitors./.
