Youth Unions of Son La and Laos’ Oudomxay and Xayabury provinces hold talks

The Son La provincial Youth Union held talks with its counterparts from Laos’ Oudomxay and Xayabury provinces on December 25.

Attending the talks were Nguyen Manh Hung, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and Cam Thi Huyen Trang, Vice President of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the Son La provincial Youth Union.

Representing the Lao provinces were Bunditho, Secretary of the Xayabury provincial Youth Union and Deputy Secretary Somchay Keovanhkham of the Oudomxay provincial Youth Union.

In an atmosphere of solidarity and friendship, the parties exchanged and shared experience in youth union work as well as youth and children’s movements; discussed building youth-led economic development models; and promoted the pioneering role of young people in socio-economic development and in strengthening youth union organisations.

Leaders of the Son La provincial Youth Union emphasised that strengthening exchanges and coordination in communication and education for youth members about the special Vietnam-Laos friendship is an important task contributing to fostering strong ties between the youth of Son La and those of the Lao provinces, between Son La province and its Lao counterparts, and between the two countries of Vietnam and Laos.

Representatives of the Youth Unions from the two Lao provinces expressed their appreciation for the warm and respectful reception by the Son La provincial Youth Union, and expressed their desire to expand cooperation and mutual support in implementing youth-related tasks and youth’s and children’s movements, thereby further nurturing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The three parties agreed to maintain a close coordination mechanism; promote communication and education on traditional values; strengthen cultural exchanges, volunteer activities, and social welfare programmes; and support youth in developing skills and enhancing their capacity to adapt to new requirements. They also agreed to expand cooperation content in line with practical needs, adopt flexible organisational methods, enhance the application of information technology and digital transformation, and develop innovative models and approaches with potential for replication.
