With its very special characteristics of terrain and culture, Son La has left a deep impression on great authors of modern Vietnamese literature with many impressive works. One of the famous literary works, inspired by the land and people of Son La, is the poem "Tay Tien" by poet Quang Dung. The poem is associated with places that have become tourist attractions of Moc Chau, such as Pha Luong peak and Regiment 52 Tay Tien historical site.

Dr. Luong Hoai Thanh from the Centre for Cultural Research of Northwest Ethnic Minorities at Tay Bac University, said that the university's research team has published an article titled "Literary tourism: The case of the poem Tay Tien and the spectrum in Moc Chau district", which analyses the beauty of Moc Chau through the poem Tay Tien to introduce to tourists the land and people of Moc Chau associated with the image mentioned in this poem.

In Bac Yen, the famous place with the immortal literary work "A Phu Couple" by writer To Hoai is also gradually utilised to develop local tourism. The “In the hometown of A Phu couple” festival 2023 was held in Hong Ngai commune with many exciting activities, attracting a large number of tourists to experience and explore this mountainous land.

Coming to Hua Tat (Co Noi, Mai Son) in the short story "The Winds of Hua Tat" by writer Nguyen Huy Thiep, visitors can see changes in the land that the author has devoted his love to and sowed faith in and hope for the Thai people here. Meanwhile, "Da River Boatman" by Nguyen Tuan once again deeply engraves the image of Son La land with the "violent and lyrical" Da River.

Son La is also mentioned in many modern literary works with places, rivers, streams, and visualisations of culture, people, and land in the Northwest province that always evokes so many emotions in the reader's heart, along with deep gratitude to the authors who have deep affection for this land. That journey brings about not only interesting experiences but also sublime emotions that touch the heart of every traveler. It is also a new tourism product that needs to be exploited in the right direction to help develop Son La tourism on par with its potential and advantages.
