Festival promotes reading culture

In response to Vietnam Book Day (April 21) and World Book and Copyright Day (April 23), the Son La provincial Youth and Children Centre on April 18 organised a Book Reading Festival with the theme “Aspirations to Soar into the Future”.

 

The organisers present the first prize in the artistic book arrangement contest to Chieng Ngan B Primary and Secondary School.

The festival attracted more than 300 teachers and students from five primary and secondary schools in the city. It featured many activities, such as sharing favorite books, cultural exchanges, an artistic book arrangement contest, participating in games, answering questions about knowledge from books read, and exchanging books.

Students also had the opportunity to experience reading books from the mobile book van of the provincial library, which offered over 3,000 book titles in various categories, including children's comics, literature, books about beloved President Ho Chi Minh, legal books, reference books, and books on life skills.

The organisers awarded the first prize for the artistic book folding model contest to Chieng Ngan B Primary and Secondary School, and two second and two third prizes to the winning teams.

On this occasion, the Son La provincial Youth and Children Centre also presented 10 gifts to disadvantaged students from schools to encourage them to overcome difficulties and strive for high academic achievements.
