Son La province strengthens management, treatment of non-communicable diseases

Since the beginning of this year, Son La province’s Center for Disease Control has screened nearly 4,000 people in 22 economically difficult communes for hypertension and diabetes.

A doctor screens for hypertension in a woman in Muong Cai commune, Song Ma district.

Among them, nearly 700 people were found to be at high risk of diabetes and 387 others at high risk of hypertension.

In addition, the center also organised 12 training classes, providing screening and intervention instructions on mental health disorder prevention and control for 415 staff members of district health centers and communal health stations.

The courses helped enhance the capacity of grassroots-level health workers to prevent, early detect, diagnose, treat and manage non-communicable diseases, contributing to protecting the health of locals.
