Son La receives nearly 15 billion VND for disaster relief

As of September 17, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province (VFF Son La) had received nearly 15 billion VND (609,138 USD) in donations from organisations, businesses, and donors both within and outside the province to help locals mitigate the consequences of natural disasters.

Viettel Son La hands over 30 million VND in aid for Son La residents to fix the disaster consequences.

The provincial Relief Mobilisation Committee has allocated 7.9 billion VND to support affected households and localities, including 13 families whose members were dead, went missing, or were injured. Aid has also been delivered to 550 families of war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs, and households affected by floods in Thuan Chau and Mai Son districts. About 500 million VND has been used to repair and rebuild fences and embankments at the Chieng Noi Primary School in Mai Son district.

Moreover, assistance has been given to 17 families whose houses collapsed and swept away, and 39 others with severely damaged homes across the districts of Yen Chau, Muong La, Song Ma, Bac Yen, Mai Son, Thuan Chau, and Son La city. Meanwhile, 165 households have been urgently evacuated to safer places.

VFF Son is urging local authorities to compile a list of families whose house have collapsed and been swept away, or who need urgent relocation, as well as those facing significant damage, in order to ensure timely support and the construction of essential infrastructure.
