The week takes place from April 29 to May 6 or World Environment Day (June 5) under the theme of "Ensuring safe clean water supply, adapting to climate change".
Its common goal is to raise understanding, responsibility, and participation of people and local authorities in promoting safe water supply, protecting water sources and works, and proactively implementing water supply solutions, ensuring enough clean water for people, especially in areas affected by heat, drought, water shortage, and water pollution. The week also calls on people to take action to use clean water effectively, ensure sanitation and practice personal hygiene and disease prevention.
Responding to the week, the provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to assess and inspect the operations of water supply works; promoted investment, construction and inspection of public toilets; encouraged people to build safe water supply and household sanitation projects. The province has accelerated the construction of domestic water supply works under all programmes and projects, completed them on time with quality, and put them into use to serve the people; organized tree planting and cleaning of agencies and units; persuaded people to clean village roads and alleys; and increased solutions to protect water sources in the province.
