Son La wins gold medal at Northern Mountainous Region Art Photo Festival 2024

The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on April 27 coordinated with the Literary and Arts Association of Dien Bien province in organising the opening ceremony of the 23rd Northern Mountainous Region Art Photo Festival 2024.

This year festival takes the theme of "The beauty of the land and people in the northern mountainous region". The Organising Committee has received more than 2,200 photo collections and single photos by 319 authors from 15 northern mountainous provinces. The jury has selected 137 works by 97 authors for exhibition round and nominated 20 works for awards.

xFollowing the success of the previous award season, this year, Son La province had 144 works by 22 authors sent to the festival. Of which, the work "The cascade hydropower system on the Da River" by photographer Vu Phi Long won the gold medal. This is the second consecutive year that Son La province has had a work winning the gold medal at the festival. In addition, 10 other works by Son La authors such as Nguyen Manh Hai, Do Truong Vinh, Nguyen Bao Trung, Nguyen Duc Tuan and Nguyen Tuan Anh have been selected for exhibition.

At the opening ceremony, the Organising Committee presented the insignia "For the development of Vietnamese Photography Art" to individuals; flags to provinces participating in the festival; and two gold, four silver and six bronze medals and eight consolation prizes to authors with excellent works.

They also handed over the flag to host the 24th festival in 2025 to Cao Bang province.
