In response to the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 49/CD-TTg dated July 17, 2026 on measures to cope with heavy rain in the northern mountainous region, the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee has issued an official dispatch calling for intensified preparedness for heavy rainfall, flooding, landslides, and flash floods across the province.

The People's Committee of Chieng Khoong commune on July 18 held the 2026 Longan Pitting Competition and Online Sales Festival for Longan Products.

Leaders of the Son La provincial Women's Union held talks with their counterparts from Laos' Oudomxay, Xayaboury and Xaysomboun provinces on July 16 in Son La.

As part of the ongoing nationwide campaign to collect DNA samples from relatives of unidentified fallen soldiers, the Son La provincial Department of Public Security, in coordination with the Chieng An ward police and relevant agencies, collected DNA samples from maternal relatives of unidentified martyrs in the ward on July 23.

As part of activities marking the All People's Security Safeguard Festival 2026, the Son La provincial Department of Public Security, in coordination with Ha Thanh General Hospital in Hanoi, organised a free medical check-up and medicine distribution programme for Van Ho commune's residents on July 14–15 in Long Luong hamlet.

The Chieng On Border Guard Station, in coordination with the Youth Union of Customs Sub-department Region IV, the Youth Union of the Customs Tax Operations Division under the Ministry of Finance’s Customs Department, Hanoi Westminster Primary and Secondary School, and Hanoi-based Green Gables group, inaugurated and handed over two community projects: "Loving School – Helping Children Stay in School" and "Lighting Up the Border Area" in Yen Son commune on July 11.

Over the past several days, the impact of Storm Maysak, the first hitting the East Sea this year, has brought prolonged heavy rainfall, causing damage to homes, property, and public infrastructure in Quynh Nhai, Muong Gion, and Muong Sai commune. Local Party committees and authorities are urgently implementing recovery measures and providing assistance to help residents stabilise their lives.

Over the past 24 hours (from 8:00 a.m. on July 10 to 8:00 a.m. on July 11), Son La province experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas recording very heavy rain. Several locations received more than 150 mm of rainfall, while Muong La commune recorded the highest amount at 240.2 mm. Prolonged heavy rain caused localised flooding and landslides, affecting homes, agricultural production, transportation, and various infrastructure facilities across the province.

Chieng An ward on July 10 held a conference to review the 2025–2026 academic year and honour outstanding teachers and students for their achievements.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment held a meeting on July 7 to review and expedite the implementation of Plan No. 2959 jointly issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Public Security on strengthening land surveying and cadastral mapping, the establishment of cadastral records, and the completion of the national land database for the communes of Chieng Mung, Mai Son, Ta Hoc, and Chieng Sung.

The People's Public Security Publishing House has released "The Fight Against Drug Crime in Son La and the Case of the Heroes," a book by Colonel Tran Anh Tuan, a Hero of the People's Armed Forces and former Director of the Son La provincial Department of Public Security. The event came ahead of the 64th traditional day of the People’s Police Force (July 20, 1962–2026).

In response to Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1), the provincial Social Security and organisations supporting participant development on July 4 organised a launch ceremony for a communication campaign to provide information, answer questions, and offer consultations on health insurance policies for local residents. The event was held simultaneously at all local social security offices.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment has issued a decision assigning 200 civil servants and public employees to directly assist commune- and ward-level People's Committees in implementing Plan No. 2959/KH-BNNMT-BCA jointly issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Public Security on March 29, 2026 on completing the national land database.

Chieng On Border Guard Station, in coordination with the Phieng Khoai commune Women's Union, held a signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement to implement the "Accompanying Border Women" programme for the 2026–2030 period in Phieng Khoai commune’s Lao Kho 1 hamlet on July 2.

The Centre for Archives, Employment and Meritorious Services under the Department of Home Affairs, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Chieng La commune, organised a job fair on June 29. The Son La provincial Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery and Identification of Unidentified Martyrs' Remains, together with Moc Chau ward authorities, on June 29 offered incense in tribute to heroic martyrs at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Moc Chau ward.

The Muong Lan Border Guard Station, in collaboration with the Hanoi-based Love and Share Club, organised the "Towards the Border Region 2026" programme in Pa Kach hamlet, Muong Lan commune on June 28. The event was one of the practical activities carried out as part of the unit's 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign.

A team under the Steering Committee for the Search, Collection and Identification of Remains of Martyrs in Son La province, in coordination with Mai Son commune, on June 27 collected DNA samples from unidentified war martyrs’ remains at the communal martyrs’ cemetery to establish their identities.
