In response to Vietnam Book Day (April 21) and World Book and Copyright Day (April 23), the Son La provincial Youth and Children Centre on April 18 organised a Book Reading Festival with the theme “Aspirations to Soar into the Future”.

The Son La Provincial Military Command on April 18 organised a Book and Reading Culture Day themed “Books on the Great Spring 1975 Victory – The Power of National Solidarity, the Aspiration for Peace and National Independence, and the Will for Reunification.”

The Veterans' Association of Son La province, in coordination with the provincial Department of Public Security, organised a training conference in Mai Son district on April 16 on crime, drug, prostitution, and HIV/AIDS prevention and control for 140 officials and members of the Veterans' Associations of Mai Son and Yen Chau districts, and Moc Chau township.

The People’s Committee of Moc Chau township launched the 2025 communication campaign on the prevention of child and consanguineous marriages in Chieng Khua commune on April 16.

As part of an initiative to mobilise social sources for solar-powered lighting systems in hamlets and residential clusters, since 2022, Bac Yen district has directed communes to raise awareness among residents about the benefits and significance of installing solar energy systems, and to provide consultations on installing systems tailored to the specific conditions of each area.

Since the beginning of the year, Son La province has offered 1,866 administrative procedures on the provincial Public Service Portal and 716 procedures on the National Public Service Portal.

The provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, on April 2 organised a consultation workshop on “the current situation and solutions for managing, protecting, and using water resources in Son La province."

The Son La Power Company on April 2 held a customer conference to provide updates on power supply, energy-saving initiatives, and load adjustments in 2024 and 2025.

In the first quarter of 2025, medical facilities across Son La province provided check-ups and treatment for 357,418 patients, including 54,983 inpatients, 194,378 outpatients, and 27,054 referrals to higher-level medical centres.

The Son La city Youth Union has directed its branches in 12 wards and communes to form volunteer teams to assist families in doing away with temporary and dilapidated houses.

After one month of assuming state management responsibility for driver’s license issuance, the provincial police have received and processed 1,634 applications for driver’s license renewal and reissuance.

Son La province earned three prizes at the 2024-2025 National Science and Technology Competition for Secondary and High School Students, which recently took place in Ho Chi Minh City. They included one second, one fourth and one promising prizes.

The provincial Youth Union launched the 2025 “Digital Literacy for All” campaign in Chieng Sinh ward on March 27.

The 7th provincial Defence and Security Education Festival for high school students for the 2024-2025 academic year concluded on March 27, at Regiment 754.

The People's Committee of Son La province on March 24 issued a plan to implement a measles vaccination campaign which aims to vaccinate 95% of children in the target groups who have not yet received or completed the required measles vaccine doses.

The Son La city Division of Education and Training organised the city-level English speaking contest for the 2024-2025 academic year on March 24-25.

A total of 67 units in Son La province have received the provincial learning status under decisions recently issued by the provincial People’s Committee.

The Son La provincial Steering Committee for Blood Donation, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Song Ma district, has organised the 2025 voluntary blood donation festival.

The provincial Youth Union, in collaboration with sponsors, organised an event titled "Proud of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union – Preserving Heritage, Aspiring to Reach Far" at the Elite Hill Son La Urban Area on March 22-23.

The Youth Union of Tay Bac (Northwest) University on March 22-23 held a forum titled "Youth of Tay Bac University proudly and confidently follow the Party" and a training session for youth union officers for the academic year 2024 - 2025. The event was attended by over 700 students currently studying at the university.
