Following the merger of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) branches in Son La, Dien Bien and Lai Chau provinces, SBV Region III now oversees a large area with a substantial workload. The Son La provincial Department of Public Security, in coordination with Son La Hydropower Company, on September 18 conducted a drill on the prevention of mass gatherings and demonstrations causing security and order disturbances at the Son La Hydropower Plant. The drill was attended by leaders of the department, the company and the People’s Committee of Muong Bu commune.

The provincial People's Committee held a meeting with religious dignitaries, officials, and influential figures from ethnic minority communities (Cluster No. 1) in Sop Cop commune on September 17. This cluster comprises four border communes: Sop Cop, Pung Banh, Muong Lan, and Muong Leo.
