Tet gathering held for disadvantaged labourers

The Federation of Labour of Son La city on January 20 held a gathering for its members and labourers who are in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The event was attended by Lo Thi Viet Ha, permanent member of the National Assembly (NA)'s Committee for Social Affairs; Hoang Thi Doi, deputy head of Son La province’s delegation of NA deputies; and representatives from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) and the provincial Labour Federation.

On the occasion of the Tet festival, Son La city’s Labour Federation and grassroots trade unions coordinated to present over 2,500 gifts worth more than 800 million VND (32,586 USD) to trade union members and labourers.

At the event, representatives of the NA’s Committee for Social Affairs and the VGCL presented 50 gifts to needy trade union members and workers. The provincial Labour Federation also gave a gift under the "Trade union house" programme to a trade union member at the Ngoc Linh Primary School, and 20 others to those in difficult circumstances. The municipal Labour Federation gave 20 gifts to needy members and workers./.
