Warm Tet comes to Muong La hamlets

As the Year of the Snake is knocking on the door, and the bustling atmosphere has come to the hamlets of Muong La district, people are excited to participate in meaningful and practical early Tet activities and programmes, making the spring in the mountainous areas complete and warm.

Bringing joy to local people on the threshold of the Lunar New Year, the Party cell of the district’s information and education board and political affairs centre coordinated with sponsors to organise the programme "Warm Tet comes to hamlets" in Tham Hon and Pa Tong hamlets, Ta Bu commune with many activities imbued with ethnic identity, such as banh chung (square sticky rice cake) wrapping contest, banh day (round sticky rice cake) pounding contest, beauty contest, musical leaf blowing contest, and pao throwing contest.

Lo Thi Ban Bun, head of the district Party Committee’s Information and Education Board, said that assigned to support Ta Bu commune, this year the Party cell, in coordination with nearly 20 organisations, agencies, and businesses, held the "Warm Tet comes to hamlets" programme, during which 130 Tet gift packages were presented to poor households and those in difficult circumstances in Tham Hon and Pa Tong hamlets. Additionally, it included free medical examinations and medicines for residents, with a total value of approximately 40 million VND (1,600 USD).

Song A Chia, a resident of Tham Hon hamlet, Ta Bu commune, said that the programme is not only an occasion for local people to celebrate the Lunar New Year and receive practical gifts but also an opportunity for them to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the Mong people.

The Tet atmosphere has also spread to the people in the mountainous commune of Chieng Cong where the programme "Xuan doan ket – Tet an khang" (Spring of Solidarity – Tet of Prosperity), organised by the Youth Union and Women's Union of the provincial Department of Public Security, presented 70 gifts worth nearly 70 million VND, including rice and necessities, to disadvantaged households.

Cultural and sports exchange activities are organised at the "Warm Tet comes to hamlets" programme.

Lau A Say, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Cong commune, shared that every time Tet comes, locals receive so much warmth from the district Party Committee and authorities, as well as organisations, individuals and businesses. Meaningful social welfare activities, and cultural and sports exchange programmes contribute to encouraging people to strive to improve their lives.

The head of the district Party Committee’s Information and Education Board further shared that the joy of celebrating the Lunar New Year has multiplied, as by this time, Muong La has completed the construction and repairs of 53 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, policy beneficiaries, and those in particularly difficult circumstances before Tet comes.

Thousands of Tet gift packages have been delivered directly to poor and near-poor households, and policy beneficiaries across the district. In addition, various sports and cultural exchange activities have been organised, contributing to strengthening solidarity and bringing a warm spring to residents, while instilling trust and hope for a better life among the ethnic communities in Muong La.
