On April 22, 2024, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 1077/QD-BVHTTDL recognising the Moc Chau National Tourist Area. This decision, affirming the stature of highland tourism, is important in enhancing the status of Son La’s tourism, shifting its economic structure and promoting local tourism development.

The Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the management and consulting contractor of the second phase of the Gender-Responsive Equitable Agriculture and Tourism (GREAT 2) project on May 10 coordinated with the Son La provincial Department of Planning and Investment to organise a workshop to share the results of a survey on the current state of tourism in the province.

During the 5-day holidays of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day and May Day from April 27 to May 1, Thuan Chau district served over 4,000 tourists and earned 850 million VND (33,530 USD) from tourism services.

Quynh Nhai district served 32,000 tourists on the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day holidays, from April 27 to May 1.

In the first quarter of 2024, Bac Yen district welcomed over 40,000 tourists, with total revenue from tourism reaching over 22.2 billion VND (889,160 USD).

The Ha Giang provincial People's Committee organised the 2024 International Culture, Tourism and Cuisine Festival, the first of its kind, on March 29-31.

Moc Chau district hosted 295,000 tourists in February, generating revenue of 363 billion VND (14.7 million USD).

As part of a series of field trips to tourist attractions in Thanh Hoa province, the Son La provincial People's Committee held a conference on March 13, in Thanh Hoa city to announce a programme on tourism stimulus and consultations to perfect a tourism product named "Thanh Hoa tourism - flavours of four seasons" in 2024.

Van Ho district will hold the Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival 2024 on a district scale in Chieng Khoa commune from March 15-17.

Within the framework of the Son Tra (Hawthorn) Flower Festival 2024, agricultural and cultural products, and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products of Muong La district and affiliated and adjacent districts were displayed and introduced to visitors on March 9 afternoon in Ngoc Chien commune.

Currently, Son La province has 611 tourist accommodation establishments, of which there are eight hotels rated 3 stars or more, and the rest are motels, homestays and other types of accommodation.

This year's festival will feature many activities, such as announcing the exclusive protection certificate for the festival; granting the certification of the largest hawthorn flower forest in the country; displaying agricultural products, culture, and products under the One Commune Once Product (OCOP) programme; a community culinary competition; displaying beautiful photos of culture and tourism in the Northwest region; and folk games.

Since the beginning of 2024, Son La province has greeted over 835,000 tourists and earned about 1 trillion VND (40.6 million USD) in tourism revenue.

At this time, the canola flower fields in Van Ho district are blooming, attracting a large number of tourists to experience and capture beautiful moments during the early spring days.

A peach blossom festival opened in Long Luong commune, Van Ho district on February 17, the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, attracting crowds of visitors in and outside Son La province.
