Moc Chau highlands: A rising holiday hotspot

As Vietnam gears up for the National Day holiday on September 2, the Moc Chau National Tourism Area is emerging as a top destination, offering a blend of stunning landscapes, cultural richness, and unique culinary experiences.

Moc Chau Island and the world’s longest glass bridge, Bach Long.

One of the standout attractions is Moc Chau Island, home to Bach Long Glass Bridge - the world’s longest glass bridge, operated by Tour 26 Moc Chau JSC. Since opening, the bridge has garnered global attention, holding three world records, including the world’s longest glass bridge at 632 meters and the world’s longest cliffside walkway. Beyond admiring the engineering feat, visitors can test their limits with adrenaline-pumping activities or relax in a train-themed hotel or the solar system-inspired glamping zone featuring eight planetary domes.

Tourists explore ethnic culture at Moc Chau Island.

According to Hoang Manh Duy, Deputy Director of Moc Chau Island, the resort will host the “The Call of the Khen” market fair themed “Echoes of Pride” during the holiday. This event offers tourists a chance to immerse themselves in unique traditional folk games such as “nem con” (cloth ball throwing), bamboo pole dancing, swing rides, and traditional dances including the bell dance, Khen dance, and Xoe dance—all deeply rooted in the cultures of local ethnic minorities.

The night will culminate in a live music show titled “Proudly Vietnam”, blending traditional northwestern tunes with modern beats.

Beyond Moc Chau Island, the region offers a variety of attractions such as Happy Land, Dai Yem Waterfall Eco-tourism Site, Ban Ang Pine Forest Resort, Son Moc Huong Cave, Moc Ly Outpost, Historical Site of the 52nd Tay Tien Regiment, and several ethnic community tourism villages.

Bon Bon Farm makes a festive makeover to welcome holiday visitors.

Visitors can also enjoy farm experiences, picking fresh fruit and exploring the cool, clean atmosphere of local agricultural sites. At Bon Bon Farm, run by Bon Bon Agricultural Tourism Cooperative in Moc Chau ward, exotic crops such as raspberries, figs, cherry tomatoes, Shine Muscat grapes, and Colombian passion fruit create a vibrant natural setting that draws tourists year-round. The cooperative is also developing ever-bearing strawberry varieties to ensure fresh fruit is available in all seasons.

Visitors enjoy fruit-picking at Bon Bon Farm during their farm tour.

The iconic tea hills of Moc Chau remain a major draw, including Vinatea Tea Village, Heart-shaped Tea Hill, Fingerprint Tea Hill, Mocha Hill, and premium tea plantations of Moc Suong Tea Company.

Lush tea hills at Mocha Hill offer a peaceful escape and hands-on experiences.

Ngo Huy Viet, Director of Mocha Hill, said: “We combine agriculture with tourism to create a unique experience that allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature and the tea culture of Moc Chau. Visitors can personally experience picking tea leaves, learning about the production process, and enjoying aromatic tea in the fresh natural surroundings. These activities help promote Moc Chau's tea products to tourists.”

Vibrant cultural performances light up Moc Chau’s Walking Street and Night Market.

As night falls, the Moc Chau Walking Street and Night Market in Thao Nguyen ward comes alive. Tourists can enjoy ethnic music performances, explore exhibitions of traditional costumes, tools, and artifacts, and learn more about the cultural life of the Thai ethnic group.

With strong support from local businesses and tourism cooperatives, Moc Chau continues to harness its natural beauty and cultural heritage to develop high-quality tourism products. The region is fast becoming a safe, vibrant, and must-visit destination for both domestic and international travelers.
