Efforts made to improve quality of training, organisation of sports competitions

The provincial Sports Training and Competition Centre on December 31 held a conference to review the sports training and competition work in 2024 and set tasks for 2025.

In 2024, the centre actively gave advice to the sports sector and the province regarding solutions to effectively implement the projects on developing high-performance and mass sports.

In the year, the selection, training, and centralised training of athletes were carried out for 11 sports, namely women's football, weightlifting, badminton, athletics, boxing, tennis, Taekwondo, kickboxing, muay, Pencak Silat, and mountain biking, with a total of 150 athletes currently being trained at the centre.

The nurturing and caring for athletes received due attention, with the nutrition regime ensured. In the 2023-2024 school year, all athletes were promoted to the next grade and 100% of the 12th graders passed the high school graduation exam.

The centre participated in 47 domestic and international tournaments, winning 146 medals of all kinds, including 36 gold, 33 silver, and 77 bronze medals. Notably, there were one bronze at the Southeast Asian U18 Athletics Championship; one gold at the Asian Taekwondo Championship; and one gold at the Pencak Silat World Championship.

In 2025, the centre will continue to select and train future athletes; strengthen management and ethics and knowledge education for athletes; prepare facilities and professional staff to organise provincial-level sports competitions; and participate in national and international competitions, with a goal of achieving 71 medals of all kinds.

On this occasion, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the certificates of merit to two collectives and 12 individuals; and awarded the title of “Emulation Fighter” at the grassroots level to five individuals.
