The opening ceremony began with the procession of the National Flag, a palanquin procession carrying the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, the festival emblem and ceremonial flags. They were followed by the parade of athletes and referees, the traditional torch-lighting ritual, and the oaths taken by athletes and referees.
This year’s festival brings together more than 300 athletes who are officials, civil servants, public employees, workers from various agencies and units, as well as local residents. They compete in eight sports: football, athletics, badminton, pickleball, volleyball, and traditional sports such as stick pushing, “con” throwing, and crossbow shooting. Immediately after the opening ceremony, competitions in athletics commenced.
The event aims to promote the movement “All people exercise following the example of President Ho Chi Minh,” improve public health and spiritual life, and serve as an opportunity to select and train outstanding athletes for provincial-level competitions.
