Folk games promoted at Tuong Ha cultural festival

As part of the 2025 cultural, sports, and tourism festival for ethnic minority and mountainous communities in Tuong Ha commune, villagers and visitors packed Ban Cai flower garden on December 14 to watch and take part in folk games.

More than 100 athletes from hamlets across the commune competed in events such as tug-of-war, sack race, and water-carrying contest.

The sack race featured eight teams, each with two athletes, competing in turns along a set course. The event tested agility and teamwork, creating a lively and exciting atmosphere.

The tug-of-war competition drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowds. Each team, made up of eight athletes, competed in a knockout format, with the best teams advancing to the semifinals and finals. Participants showcased teamwork and determination, and delivered thrilling performances throughout the event.

The water-carrying challenge featured eight teams from Cha, Thon, Na Puc, Khao, Tan Da, Dong La, Thin, and Suoi Tre hamlets. Each team, comprising five women in traditional ethnic attire, demonstrated agility and endurance as they carried water over a 10-m course, navigated obstacles, and poured it into jars.

The activities helped promote grassroots physical exercise, preserve folk games, and provide a space for cultural exchange, strengthening bonds and fostering unity among the local ethnic communities.
