“Return to Dien Bien Phu – 2024, People’s Army Newspaper Cup”: cyclists complete Van Ho district - Son La city route

After more than three hours, riders of the “Return to Dien Bien Phu – 2024, People’s Army Newspaper Cup” completed the third stage from Van Ho district to Son La city, stretching 141km.

An award ceremony was held at the Tay Bac (Northwest) Square in Son La city.

 Nguyen Minh Thien is the first to touch the finish line of the third stage.

Heading towards Dien Bien Phu, the riders strived to complete the race. At the end of the third stage, Nguyen Minh Thien, from the 620 Chau Thoi Team of Vinh Long province, excellently won both the yellow and green jerseys for the rider with the lowest cumulative time in the race and the best finisher, respectively.

Pham Le Xuan Loc, from the Army Team, earned the red dot and white jerseys for the one with the most impressive achievement, and the best young rider, respectively.

The tournament’s organisers also presented prizes to the five best riders in the third stage and others to individuals with high achievements in the two sprint stages.

 The five best cyclists of the third stage are honoured at the award ceremony.

The organisers also handed over gifts from donors to Son La province, including 600 million VND (23,607 USD) for the construction of 10 toilets at schools in the province, and 20 gifts, each worth 3 million VND, to local policy beneficiaries.

After three stages, the riders will continue with the fourth, from Son La city to Dien Bien Phu city in neighbouring Dien Bien province, on May 4.
