The opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games will take place on the evening of May 5, officially starting the regional sports festival and the Vietnam Sports Delegation is ready to participate, with the highest determination.

The Vietnam Sports Delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the SEA Games with 55 members (including leaders), according to the regulations of the Organising Committee and athlete Nguyen Huy Hoang has been selected as the flag bearer. This is a great honour for Hoang, as he was given the task of holding the flag of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, for the second time at a regional sports festival.

Nguyen Huy Hoang once received the title of "best athlete" at SEA Games 31 (together with Nguyen Thi Oanh, Joshua Robert Atkinson, and Jing Wen Quah), after winning 5 Gold Medals. Currently, Hoang is also one of the biggest hopes of the swimming team and the Vietnam Sports Delegation, at major international sports events.

SEA Games 32 is the 4th regional sports festival that Hoang has attended and it promises to become a "launch pad" to help him go further in his international career.

In addition to the goal of protecting achievements in the events in which he has won Gold medals, Hoang also aims for the bigger goal of winning a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games, after the results of the SEA Games were approved by the International Swimming Federation (FINA), as the basis for determining standardisation.

“Vietnamese athletes will compete with national pride and the highest determination at the 32nd SEA Games,” said the head of the Vietnamese sports delegation Dang Ha Viet.

“We will not only be fighters representing Vietnam but also the country's ambassadors to show off our friendship, love of peace and national beauty, to international friends”, he noted.
