The Badminton Asia Senior Open 2023 was jointly organized by the Badminton Asia, Vietnam Badminton Federation and the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports. Son La province sent six athletes to the event. They played with all their might, followed the techniques and tactics given by the coaching board, and obeyed the rules and regulations of the competition. As a result, athletes Dang Hoang Anh and Nguyen Hoang Lan won a bronze medal in the men's doubles aged 41-45. Nguyen Hung Thien and Dang Xuan Thanh won another bronze in the men's doubles aged 51-55.

The tournament saw the participation of more than 200 male and female athletes from Bhutan, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, India, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UAE and Vietnam. Athletes competed in such categories as men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles in age groups from 40 to over 65.

At the end of the tournament, the Vietnamese delegation won eight gold medals, two silver medals, and 16 bronze medals, ranking second after India.
