Son La province ranks 17th in number of medals at 10th National Phu Dong Sports Games

The Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony in the northern port city of Hai Phong on August 6 to wrap up the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Games.

The festival took place from July 28 to August 6 with the participation of about 10,000 athletes, coaches and others from the 63 cities and provinces.

Son La province sent 125 athletes to the event, who competed in 10 sports, namely athletics, Taekwondo, women's soccer, badminton, tug of war, karate, basketball, table tennis, volleyball and chess.

Son La athletes played their best, leaving many good impressions at the tournament. They brought home three gold, two silver, and nine bronze medals in Taekwondo, tug of war, badminton, and karate.  The delegation got 1,223 points, ranking 27th out of the 63 provinces and cities. In terms of medals, Son La ranked 17th and was awarded a flag for good performance by the Organising Committee.
