Son La wins 2 medals at 2024 National Pencak Silat Championship

Son La province’s athletes grabbed one gold and one bronze at the 2024 National Pencak Silat Championship, held from October 10-20 in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

 

Son La's Quang Thi Thu Nghia wins a gold medal in the 80 kg combat (tanding) event.

Specifically, Quang Thi Thu Nghia excellently won a gold medal in the women's 80 kg category, while Tong Thi Vi got a bronze medal in the women's 70 kg category.

This year’s championship attracted the participation of over 300 athletes from 28 provinces and cities across the country, including four from Son La, competing in 31 combat (tanding) and performane (seni) events.

Organised annually by the Department of Sports and Physical Training, it offers opportunities for athletes to exchange and improve their competition techniques, while helping promote the Pencak Silat training and competition movements in localities.

Via the competition, talented individuals will be selected for the national team attending upcoming regional and international Pencak Silat tournaments such as SEA Games.
