Son La wins high prizes at 2023 National Pencak Silat Championship

Athletes from Son La province have won one gold medal and the titles of grandmaster and level-1 national fighter at the freshly concluded 2023 National Pencak Silat Championship.

The September 1-10 tournament was co-organised by the Sports Authority of VIetnam  under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province.

Athlete Quang Thi Thu Nghia from Son La province receives a gold medal in the 75-80kg category in the women's tanding (combat) event.

The event drew the participation of over 300 athletes from provinces, cities and sectors across the country, competing in single tunggal (performance) and women’s and men’s tanding events.

The Son La team to this tournament included one coach and four female athletes competing in the tanding event, including Lo Thi Trang (55-60 kg), Ca Thi Minh (70-75kg), Quang Thi Thu Nghia (75-80kg), and Tong Thi Vi (80-85kg).

Quang Thi Thu Nghia pocketed a gold medal and the title of Pencak Silat grandmaster while Tong Thi Vi and Ca Thi Minh won the title of level-1 national Pencak Silat fighter.

The championship aimed to select athletes for the Pencak Silat national team to participate in international tournaments.
