The tournament was co-organised by the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the Sports Authority of Vietnam and the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It drew the participation of nearly 300 athletes from 29 delegations of cities, provinces, agencies and clubs nationwide.

Son La sent one coach and six athletes to the tournament, who competed in both men’s and women’s individual kyorugi events. The entire delegation ranked third in the medal tally, while the women’s team, second, at the tournament.
