Thuan Chau responds to Olympic Day Run for public health, national security

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam sports sector’s Traditional Day (March 27, 1946 – 2026) and the 67th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to and meeting with northwestern ethnic communities in Thuan Chau (May 7, 1959 – 2026), on March 22, Thuan Chau commune organised the Olympic Day Run For Public Health and For National Security.

Nearly 1,000 athletes took part in the run, divided into two groups. The armed forces group included 250 athletes who were officers and soldiers from military and police units stationed in the commune, as well as members of security and order teams from 75 villages, hamlets, and sub-zones. Participants competed in a 1,500m race.

The group of officials and public employees from agencies, schools, villages, hamlets, and sub-zones, and local residents of Thuan Chau commune included nearly 700 athletes competing in a 4,000m race, equivalent to five laps around Nong Luong Lake.

In recognition of the athletes’ achievements, the Organising Committee awarded one first, two second and seven third prizes to runners in the armed forces group, and acknowledged the results of the first 100 finishers in the public employee and public group.

Through the running event, the movement of physical training and sports is further promoted to improve the health of officials, Party members and residents in the commune, for the goals of "Every healthy citizen contributes to a healthy nation” and “Strong people make a prosperous country,” as always wished by beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
