Muong Trai commune in Muong La district on March 23-24 organised the Nang Han (Miss Han) Festival 2024, attracting a large number of people and tourists.

The culinary quintessence of ethnic groups in Van Ho district was highlighted at a cooking contest held in Chieng Khoa commune on March 17 as part of the Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival 2024 in the district. 

Within the framework of the Van Ho Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival 2024, the final round of the "Ban Flower Beauty" contest took place on the evening of March 16 in Chieng Khoa commune.

A ritual worshipping Miss Ban took place on March 15 at the historical and cultural relic site of Bang Muong Temple in Khong hamlet, Chieng Khoa commune, Van Ho district. This is the traditional ceremony opening the Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival held annually in Chieng Khoa commune.

As part of the activities of the Muong La Hawthorn Flower Festival 2024, many cultural, art and sports activities took place in Nam Nghep and Muong Chien hamlets, Ngoc Chien commune, attracting crowds of residents and tourists.

Visitors to the Son tra (Hawthorn) Flower Festival 2024 in Muong La district had a chance to experience paragliding in Ngoc Chien commune, dubbed a “fairyland” thanks to its beautiful landscapes and ethnic cultural traits.

A photo and painting exhibition opened in Muong Chien hamlet, Ngoc Chien commune on March 9, as part of the Son tra (Hawthorn) Flower Festival in Son La district. 

Son La province now has 16 national intangible cultural heritages recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In the context of modern cultural interference, the Kho Mu ethnic people in Cang On hamlet, Muong Va commune, Sop Cop district still preserve and promote traditional values through their costumes, folk songs, musical instruments, festivals and beliefs.

A host of activities were held at the Son La Museum on February 25, featuring traditional cultural traits during the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The Son La provincial Department of Education and Training on February 25 organised an exam to select excellent high school students at the provincial level in the 2023-2024 school year at the Son La High School for the Gifted and the Chieng Sinh High School.

‘Khen be’, a type of panpipe, has been associated with the Thai ethnic people in Yen Chau district for a long time. It is used to make prelude music in most folk songs and in community cultural and artistic activities. Its melodious sound seems to invite friends and tourists from near and far to join the dance of great unity.

Chieng Cang commune in Song Ma district on February 22 held the 2024 “Cau mua’ festival to pray for bumper crops.

The rain praying festival of the White Thai people in Muong Sang commune, Moc Chau district was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on February 21.
