There are currently over 1.18 million people joining social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance in Son La province. The health insurance coverage rate reaches 94.2% of the province's population, equal to 94.2% of the plan assigned by the Vietnam Social Security, and 97.1% of the plan assigned by the provincial People's Committee.

Moc Chau district on March 12 organised the 7th Job Fair 2024, attracting the participation of nearly 50 employers and training institutions inside and outside the province, as well as over 3,000 workers, youth union members and young people from 15 communes and towns and 9th and 12th graders in the district.

In February, the provincial Employment Service Center provided consultations on labour, employment, and unemployment insurance policies; and issued 284 decisions on unemployment insurance policies, including 269 on unemployment benefits.

In February, especially during the Lunar New Year holiday, medical facilities in Son La province ensured adequate medical supplies, medicine and necessary equipment to serve emergency cases and organize medical examination and treatment for people.

Moc Chau district on March 6 organised a conference honouring 77 outstanding collectives and individuals in emulation movements in different aspects of the social life.

Around 4 million saplings have been nurtured under programmes and projects in Son La province to serve afforestation this year.

When March comes, Son La city brightens up with the white Ban (scientifically known as Bauhinia Variegata) flowers in full bloom. Not only making the mountainous city more poetic, Ban flowers also invite tourists from all walks of life to come and capture the beautiful moments of the spring in the Northwest.

Son La province strives to plant 2,023 hectares of concentrated forests and 1.28 million scattered trees this year, increasing its forest coverage to 48%.

Son La province has so far this year planted 3,680 hectares of all kinds of vegetables, with an output of over 35,430 tonnes, serving the people's need for clean vegetables.

The Youth Union of Son La province, in collaboration with the provincial Border Guard Command and the Moc Chau district People’s Committee, held a ceremony on February 25 at Long Sap border gate border guard station, Long Sap commune to launch the "Youth Month, Border March" programme and respond to the 2024 tree planting festival.

Last year, Mai Son district stepped up the communications work, promoting a campaign in which soldiers and people are resolved to cover bare land by forestation and growing multi-purpose scattered trees.

Over the past years, the provincial transport sector has paid attention to building and repairing provincial roads and sections of national highways, thus ensuring smooth and continuous traffic.

The People's Committee of Thuan Chau district on February 21 held a ceremony in Tham hamlet, Tong Lenh commune to launch the “All people engage in irrigation work’ movement in the dry season in 2024.

Since the beginning of 2024, health facilities in Son La province have well organized examination, treatment and emergency; and improved the quality of medical services.

In January, Son La province created jobs and increased income for 1,061 labourers, and supported seven to work abroad for a fixed term.

Muong La district on February 19 held a ceremony in Pi Toong commune to launch a tree planting festival and the “All people engage in irrigation” movement.

Women's unions at all levels in Thuan Chau district have maintained 236 self-managed roads and mobilised over 7,000 members and women to clear 21 km of rural roads and plant 26 new flower routes. 

In 2013-2023, Son La province had 1,054 projects of students participating in science and technology competitions at all levels. 

The Education Promotion Association of Son La province in January presented 438 gifts and scholarships worth over 224 million VND (9,169 USD) to students in difficult circumstances and remote areas, with outstanding academic achievements, along with teachers and students who scored high results in competitions.

Son La city’s Traffic Safety Committee held a ceremony at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square on January 29 to launch the Traffic Safety Year 2024.
