Son La province’s Youth Union organised a volunteer campaign on October 5, in Chieng Xom commune, Son La city in response to the National Digital Transformation Day 2023 (October 10).

“October - Digital Consumption Month” is taking place in Son La province from October 1-31, with its peaking period of October 1-10.

Last month, provincial forest rangers coordinated with authorities of localities to instruct units and facilities to focus on forest protection and reforestation to fulfill assigned tasks.

Heavy rain from September 26 to 28 caused heavy human and property damage in Phu Yen district. The district People's Committee has directed localities to urgently deploy measures to overcome the consequences of rain and floods, quickly stabilizing people’s life and production.

The youth union and trade union of Son La Newspaper, in collaboration of Bo Sinh commune’s youth union, on September 26 held the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival for children at Huoi Tinh facility of Hoa Phuong Do kindergarten in Bo Sinh commune, Song Ma district.

Since the beginning of 2023, Song Ma district’s Agricultural Service Centre has coordinated with relevant units to organise seven training classes and 172 dissemination sessions guiding local farmers how to plant and care for Queen pineapple, collect pesticide packaging, prevent pests, diseases and cold for plants and animals, and take care of longan and mango after harvest. These activities have benefited 7,095 local people.

Over the past eight months, Son La province mobilized 60.8 billion VND (2.5 million USD) to support 1,129 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties. Of these, 12 households had their existing houses repaired and 1,117 others were given new houses.

All communes and wards in Son La province have fiber optic broadband infrastructure, while over 51% of hamlets and sub-wards are covered by fixed broadband. The proportion of the local population with smartphones reaches over 70%.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s chapter in Son La province has recently coordinated with Uni Language House foreign language centre to organise the 2023 English Olympic competition for students named “Ring the Golden Bell”.

A scientific seminar have been recently held to discuss the preservation and promotion of values of Tang Me burial cave – a national relic site, in combination with tourism development, and livelihood generation for residents in Suoi Bang commune, Van Ho district, Son La province.

Implementing the project on administrative reform in Moc Chau district for the 2020-2025 period, agencies, units, communes and township in the district have taken many creative solutions and ways to become a typical locality of Son La province in reforming administrative procedures and building e-government and digital government.

Mai Son district in Son La province has paid due attention to solving the shortage of domestic water in difficult areas. With funding from the national target programme for socio-economic development in ethnic-inhabited and mountainous areas, many projects have been implemented and put into use, helping ethnic minorities improve their quality of life.

The Co Ma upland market fair is an annual event held on the occasion of National Day (September 2), where Mong, Thai, Kho Mu and Ha La ethnic people from Muong Bam, Long He, E Tong, Pa Long, Co Tong and Co Ma communes gather to meet, exchange and celebrate the Independence Day.
