The Youth Union of Son La province coordinated with the provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Sop Cop district People's Committee to organize a Mid-Autumn Festival programme for children themed "Lanterns light up Son La children's dreams" in Muong Leo commune, Sop Cop district on the evening of September 27.

The provincial museum has five archives with nearly 24,000 collected and preserved documents and objects dating from the pre-historic periods to the later resistance wars, along with others featuring the cultures of ethnic groups in Son La.

The youth union in Son La province in coordination with the cluster of youth unions of Red River Delta cities and provinces on September 27 inaugurated a project named “Anh dang ban lang” (village lights) in the youth start-up village in Pung Banh commune, Sop Cop district.

Since the beginning of 2023, Song Ma district’s Agricultural Service Centre has coordinated with relevant units to organise seven training classes and 172 dissemination sessions guiding local farmers how to plant and care for Queen pineapple, collect pesticide packaging, prevent pests, diseases and cold for plants and animals, and take care of longan and mango after harvest. These activities have benefited 7,095 local people.

Over the past eight months, Son La province mobilized 60.8 billion VND (2.5 million USD) to support 1,129 poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties. Of these, 12 households had their existing houses repaired and 1,117 others were given new houses.

All communes and wards in Son La province have fiber optic broadband infrastructure, while over 51% of hamlets and sub-wards are covered by fixed broadband. The proportion of the local population with smartphones reaches over 70%.

In recent years, Son La province has implemented many solutions to improve the effectiveness of environmental protection, with priority given to prevention, response, and control of pollution risks, ensuring sustainable socio-economic development.

Located near the core area of Ta Xua special-use forest, Hang Dong commune has more than 5,500 hectares of forest. In recent years, the locality has actively coordinated with Bac Yen district’s forest rangers to synchronously deploy forest management and protection solutions.

More than 300,000 students from the first to 12th grades across Son La province returned to school on August 28 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The provincial Health Department, in coordination with Save the Children International (SCI) in Vietnam, on August 22-24 organized a training course on the management of a project to improve the livelihoods of ethnic minorities in Son La province.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Son La province will maintain the provision of semi-boarding meals at 225 schools, with over 126,000 students.
