Seventy-four out of the 188 communes in Son La province have met the new-style rural area building programme’s criteria No. 17 on environmental protection and food safety.

To create a green, clean, and beautiful rural environment, localities and organisations in Son La province have actively implemented models such as "Self-managed residential areas for environmental protection," “self-managed road sections,” and the "5 no’s, 3 clean's" family model, "Saturday at the grassroots" and "Green-Clean-Beautiful Sunday” effectively.’

Currently, over 50% of families in the province have improved their gates, fences, and roadsides, and planted trees along roads. Additionally, 70% of livestock households maintain sanitary conditions for their facilities, and 100% of small businesses have signed commitments to ensure food safety.
