Over 1,000 square glutinous rice cakes made in support of flood victims

Residents in Chieng Sinh ward along with a large number of business households and individuals in Son La city on September 11 donated sticky rice, green beans, dong leaves, pork, and cash to make banh chung (square glutinous rice cake) for flood-affected people.

More than 100 volunteers wrapped over 1,000 cakes of all sizes. The cakes were vacuum-sealed before being sent to flood victims. Drinking water and other essential items will also be delivered to those in flood-hit areas in Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang provinces.

With the spirit of "A piece when hungry is worth a whole pie when full" and "the intact leaves protect the tattered ones”, organisations and individuals in Son La city will continue donating food, foodstuffs and necessities, wrapping banh chung, and cooking food for people in flood-stricken areas in neighbouring provinces.
