Natural disaster-hit households in Son La get support

The Red Cross Society of Son La province, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society of the southern province of Binh Duong, on September 11 organized a programme to support local households affected by typhoons Prapiroon and Yagi, the second and third hitting Vietnam this year.

 

The Red Cross Society of Binh Duong province and representatives of donors symbolically hand over support for typhoon-hit residents to the Red Cross Society of Son La province.

The Red Cross Society of Binh Duong has provided 230 gift packages, each worth 1 million VND (41 USD), to households in Chieng Chung and Muong Chanh communes, Mai Son district; and 170 others to families in Ban Lam commune, Thuan Chau district. Additionally, 100 packages, totaling 100 million VND in cash, were transferred to the Red Cross Society of Son La province to deliver to those in need.

The total amount of support is 500 million VND, raised from the charitable social fund of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in Binh Duong province.

The charity delegation presents support for natural disaster victims in Chieng Chung commune, Mai Son district.

The charity delegation also provided 6 million VND in cash to each of two households in Lam hamlet, Ban Lam commune, Thuan Chau district, whose homes were swept away by floods and are currently staying in the communal cultural house or relatives’ homes. This assistance aims to ease their difficulties and help them recover and stabilize their lives.
